Mas-wrestling sections work at NEFU, Yakut jumps and hapsagai

The Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of the North-Eastern Federal University is engaged in the popularization of folk games and national sports in Yakutia, regions of Russia and abroad. Mas-wrestling sections successfully work here, Yakut jumps and hapsagai, reported YASIA in the press service of the university.

Teachers of the Department of Mas-Wrestling and National Sports work as coaches, judges at the international sports games "Children of Asia", act as organizers and participants of all scientific and practical conferences, held within the framework of these competitions.

“Effective versatile work of the department allowed attracting students from Kyrgyzstan, China and Mongolia ", - says the head of the physical culture and sports club IFCiS Nikolay Nikolaev.

The department pays special attention to the training of highly qualified specialists in certain national sports, organizers of physical culture movement. In practical classes, teachers use non-standard sports equipment and equipment of their own design, audio-video, technical means. Mas-wrestling is more than 150 students from all over the university, wrestling hapsagai - more 80 students, Yakut jumps - more 40 students.

The basic rules of mas-wrestling were invented in Yakutia. "Mas" - stick (Yakut.), «Restling» (English) - fight. Athletes sit opposite each other and rest their feet on the board, in between. With their hands they hold a stick, parallel board. At the signal of the judge, the athletes pull the "mas" towards themselves. The one wins, who pulls the opponent to his side.
